Scheduled and Repeat Pours
Commercial groundwork rarely goes to the drawing. The dig runs over, the formwork moves, the take-off was somebody's best guess. That's the case for volumetric supply: the truck batches on site and you pay for the metered volume discharged — not the volume estimated a fortnight ago. No over-order waste, no returned-concrete disposal fees.
One truck carries materials for up to around 9m³ per visit, and we simply reload for bigger pours. Need footings in C25/30 and a leaner mix for blinding on the same visit? The operator switches mixes between pours — several different mixes from one truck.
We'll hold slots for phased work — strip one week, slab the next — and same-day slots are often available when the programme slips the other way. If the pour needs placing kit, pump and concrete come from one phone call, on one schedule.
And a bit of honesty up front: where a very large continuous pour genuinely favours a convoy of drum trucks from a batching plant, we'll tell you that before you book, not after.
The Paperwork Commercial Buyers Need
Every load leaves with a batch ticket, as BS EN 206 requires: mix designation and strength class, consistence, cement type, aggregate size, batch time and the metered volume. Because the batching runs through the truck's calibrated metering, the batch record prints on site.
Cube testing: we'll fill cube moulds on request and point you to UKAS-accredited labs — sampling to BS EN 12390-2, crushing to BS EN 12390-3 at 7 and 28 days. Identity testing is conventionally engaged by the customer or contractor, and we'll work with whichever lab you appoint.
Designed mixes: where the engineer specifies performance, we design and batch to it and take responsibility for the mix — batched to the strength and durability requirements of BS 8500 / BS EN 206, produced from CE/UKCA-marked constituents (cement to EN 197-1, aggregates to EN 12620, admixtures to EN 934-2).
Designated mixes — the GEN, RC, PAV and FND names — may only be supplied under those names by producers holding third-party certification such as QSRMC or the BSI Kitemark. We supply equivalent designed mixes by strength class instead: what builders call GEN1, for example, is a C8/10-strength general-purpose mix, and we batch an equivalent designed mix. If your spec strictly requires certified designated concrete — NHBC and National Highways specs do — we'll say so and advise, rather than fudge it.
Higher Grades and Special Mixes
C35 and C40 cover most structural and industrial work — reinforced elements, wearing surfaces and heavy-duty floors, batched to the engineer's spec. Waterproof concrete and self-compacting concrete are available on request: tell us what the spec calls for and we'll quote it.
Fibre-dosed mixes, too. Polypropylene micro-fibres control early-age shrinkage cracking and toughen the surface — they're not structural and don't replace specified steel. Steel and macro-synthetic fibres can replace mesh in slabs designed for it; that call belongs with your engineer, and we'll batch what the design says.
Aggressive ground can be a factor on former industrial land in Birmingham and the Black Country, where sulphates can attack ordinary concrete. If your ground report specifies a DC class, we batch a sulfate-resisting designed mix to match it — that's a ground-report decision, never one made by eye.

Lower-Carbon Mixes
If your client or a planning condition asks about embodied carbon, GGBS is the honest lever. Over a third of UK ready-mix already contains GGBS, and replacing a tonne of ordinary cement with it saves around 780kg of CO₂e. Typical structural replacement is around 50%.
The trade-off, plainly: slower early strength. At 7 days a GGBS mix typically sits at 55–65% of its 28-day strength, and it catches up to equal by 28 days — so allow longer striking and curing times, especially in winter. Lower-carbon mixes are available on request; tell us the spec and the programme and we'll advise.
Fleet and Site Compliance
Our trucks run under standard HGV rules — O-licensed, annually MOT'd and within standard weight limits. No surprises for your site transport plan.
Washout is contained on every job and leaves with us — nothing goes down a drain, gully or watercourse, and you don't need to provide a washout facility. In a city laced with canals that's not a small point: concrete washwater is highly alkaline, and polluting a drain or watercourse is a criminal offence. Your site keeps its environmental record clean, and so does the cut.
